Music Release Metadata Standard

The metadata layer that's the foundation of every clean release. Get this right and every DSP, playlist pitch, and royalty stream lands where it should.

Core Identifiers

ISRC per track · UPC per release · explicit flag · release date · label & P-line · original release date.

Credits & Splits

Writers, composers, publishers, performers, producers — with publishing splits % for each. Missing splits = delayed or misrouted royalties.

DSP Fields

Spotify Canvas (3–8s), Apple lyrics & songwriter credits, YouTube Music Art Tracks, Amazon HD flag, TikTok sound start date.

Assets

3000×3000 cover (RGB, no upscaled), 16:9 video where possible, clean instrumental & acapella stems for remix/UGC.

Delivery

Distributor upload ≥ 3 weeks before release. Locked metadata no later than T-14 days. Pitching windows close before street date.

Rights & Clearance

Sample clearances, feature agreements, master use licenses — in writing before distribution. Each one is logged in your rollout.
